H/H Keycap
RenderWeekly decided to run a design prompt in colaboration with Hibi that was right up my alley, designing a custom R4 keycap that includes my personal style.
For the design I've decided upon a two piece design that combines the nice soft-touch feel of sandblasted polycarbonate with the heft and mass from an aluminium keycap. I wanted to include diagonal lines in my design to steer away from the common straight lines within keyboards. To do this I used two carefully placed V cuts from the diagonal planes of the keycap to create a sense of depth and abstraction of the keycap contour.
The stem legs, of which the shapes are based on the shapes of my personal logo, are integrated in the PC top part of the design and protrude though the holes in the aluminium keycap. To finish things off I rounded off the edges of the PC top to further soften the typing feel of the keycap.
